About this guide

Bowhunting is legal in a handful of European countries and banned or undefined in the rest, and the information about which is which is scattered across hunting authorities, forum posts and outfitter brochures. This site collects it in one place, one page per country, with a link to the official text wherever one exists.

It is maintained by Bendis Carpatica in Transylvania, Romania, a country where bowhunting is not yet permitted. Part of the reason for the guide is to show, with evidence, how neighbouring countries regulate it.

How pages are rated

Every page carries a "last checked" date and a confidence level. High confidence means we read the law. Medium means we relied on the authority or national association. Low means secondary sources only. If you find an error or hold a newer version of a rule, write to us.
